Yesterday I had extended my stay for one more night since the weather was still to bad to cycle. But today I left Baraona since it finally was dry and there was less wind. But less doesn't mean little, so I hoped to cycle at least part of the day with less or even little wind, before it maybe would be stormy again.
At both sides of Baraona there are 7 kms of straight road without any obstacles, horizontally nor vertical. Not often can you have such long-distance views in countries with hills.
Looking back to Baraona. How did that one and only hill come there ???
Looking back to Baraona, once more.
A last fairwell to Baraona. Why did I like my stay in Baraona so much ? Then I can hardly make any contact with the people in Spain. I do not speak their language and they do not speak any other language. I think it was the combination of friendly people, nice bocadillos, good coffee and prima diners. Combined with a good room in a simple setup.
Anyway, it was now time to cycle west into a new province : Guadalajara.
In the subtitle of this blog it says "The long non-winding road to the south (part 7)". Happily it would be the last non-winding stretch to the south. From This spot on I would no longer be cycling on those long straights.
The views are just stunning.
There is so little out there
but there is so much to see !!!
The roads are full with these creatures. All roads I was on, everywere, every meter of them. Every few meters there is one crawling to the other side. Really always all the way to the other side then I have not seen one that is crawling along a road. Are those that enter the tarmac heading for something special ? Or are they just lost ? I assume that the whole land is as full with them just as on the tarmac. Which means that there must be billions of them.
Cows where are you ??? I have seen so many warningsigns for cows but have not seen one ! Where are they ???
Autumn colors were appearing.
How beautiful they are.
I decided to have a good cup of coffee in Riofrio del LLano. So I turned left.
To end up at this towncentre.
Were all I could have was fresh water from the fountain. But why complain about coffee if you are so lucky to find a place like this for your stop.
Some clever person uses the fountain to raise trouts.
In the morning I had ordered a nice bocadillo with queso (cheese) to take with me for lunch. This was the time and place to enjoy it. In Spain they love to put on a little bit (or more) tomato pulp on it (and on the jamon too). That tasts wonderfull (as long as it is a little). The real tostado however is a toasted slice of white bread with (only) a thick layer of tomato pulp and a good splash of good olive oil on it.
And talking about being in the middle of nowhere this is how to have internet in that middle of nowhere ...
The townhall presents internet by her wifi router.
So that's were you have to go.
In that bulletinboard is an advertising about having internet at home for € 30 per month.
I have no idea whether people here are willing can afford to pay that price.
Besides that many older people have no real idea of what internet is.
In Baraona I spoke to a group of people but no one (!) knew what a browser is. Only when some 40 year "old" man came in (who spoke some english) made he clear that that is not "google". So I guess that in most very small vilages the youngsters will not have internet while the elderie people don't see a reason to pay that € 30 for it.
Suddenly a truck arrived, horning very loud and long all throughout the village.
It was the supermercado on wheels ! Only by this system can older people and people without car keep on living in those isolated villages.
To bad, a roadkill.

Then I saw the castle of Jadraque, high upon a hill.
And reached Jadraque.
It was an easy YesTrip today with only 388 vms.
I had cycled to Jadraque on one of those rare dry days with little wind and it had been a very fine day. But I knew I would be stuck here for several days waiting for the new rains and heavy winds to stop ... However the bar was open all day(s) and so was the menucard. And I even had a haircut, although it took me 3 visits to find that shop opened ...
My friend the OnTheRoad 4.0 was happy with his special parkingplace, so no problem.
